How to
Get a Book Published
Learn my step-by-step process
for how I went from
dreaming of being a published author to being one
with 5 books published by Wiley and McGraw-Hill ...
From: Larina Kase, PsyD, MBA
Dear friend,
Tell me if you can relate:
Several years ago, I had a book in me and I was
dying for a publisher to realize its potential.
The problem?
I had no platform.
The publishers wanted to know how I was going to sell the book. They wanted to know
how big my mailing list was. They wanted to know who my literary agent was (I didn’t have one).
They wanted a fancy proposal with an extensive marketing plan.
I wanted to cry.
It was so frustrating to let a seemingly small
thing kill publishers' interest in my book.
Becoming a Published Author
Once I realized that nothing would happen if I didn’t have a platform,
I learned how to build one (I will show you how too). I learned how to build my platform,
how to get a literary agent, and most importantly, how to get my book published.
Within a few years time, I had secured a top New York City literary agent
and 6 book deals with major publishers including Wiley, New Harbinger, and McGraw-Hill.
If you have a book in you, this is exactly what I want to help you learn
how to do. It’s surprisingly simple once you know the right steps.
Let’s face it: most people see us information experts and wannabe
authors as a dime a dozen. “Everyone’s an expert these days,” the common refrain goes.
“They all sound the same.”
Yes, it’s hard to stand out as an expert—especially with the amount
of information on the internet these days.
The truth is, people are overwhelmed. They don’t have time to
hear your message—or anyone else’s, for that matter.
And yet, you’ve spent years, maybe even decades, honing your knowledge and skills.
You have a great deal to contribute to the world. Your work is different, and you know
it can make a truly positive impact on people’s lives.
If only they could read your book and get your message.
So…where does that leave you? In other words…
How do you stand out from the sea of information experts
…all of whom are trying to get a book published?
Seems like an almost impossible question to answer, doesn’t it? But there is a science to it.
Think about it…
If you were choosing a professional service provider—coach, therapist, marketer, PR professional—you’d first look for the recognized authorities…those with the most exposure.
Second, you’d figure out if other people also recommended them. And not just anyone: people you respect, trust, and know…people like authors, experts, celebrities.
The same is true for everyone else including publishers, they all want to partner with
(and publish) the recognized expert, the thought leader, the trusted authority.
And that’s what you want to become, right?
You want to be the “go-to” expert. And of
course, you want to get your book published.
So the question is, then: how do you become that recognized expert, thought leader, and trusted authority?
While what I’m about to tell you will excite you, I have to offer a caveat: it only applies to those who are truly credible in their fields.
You don’t need to be the world’s greatest expert on your subject. But you must have studied it to the point that you do have some credentials, whether they include a degree, a track-record of helping clients, or the esteem of your colleagues.
Does that sound like you? Great—then keep reading. (If it doesn’t, and you haven’t built any credentials yet, then this product isn’t for you).
If you already have credibility, then…
The solution is to build your platform.
It is VERY unlikely that you'll
get a book deal without a platform. And once you get your book
published, you will need to sell it, which you need a platform to do.
What’s a platform?
In a nutshell, your platform is your credibility and your visibility. But more specifically, it means:
Getting maximum exposure—from the media, live speaking events, on teleseminars, with your mailing list
Proving that you’re the expert—with your book, third-party endorsements, customer testimonials, and media quotation
The truth is, I invested way more time, money, and effort that I’d like to admit. I wish it hadn’t been that way—that I “knew it all along,” and now I’m sharing that perfect success story with you.
Not at all. In fact, I had almost no idea how to become the “go-to” expert until an editor at Wiley told me that I needed a platform.
“Huh?” I remembered thinking. Just the word sounded quite intimidating!
But what I discover is that, once you’re pointed in the right direction, building a platform isn’t actually that hard.
Which is why I’ve created this course: so that you, the inspiring author and expert—the person in exactly the same situation I was in at the start of my career—can learn…
…exactly what you need to know to build
a platform—
along with the step-by-step
instructions so you can
start building it
today.
And I really mean that. I know that if you apply what I teach you in Platform-Building Secrets Revealed, and if you’re a credible expert with valuable content, you will dramatically increase your visibility and exposure.
How do I know? Because not only have I done it myself, but that editor who first told me about building a platform—that industry insider at Wiley—told me that I should be teaching platform-building.
So after applying this work to my own career and speaking with countless industry-insiders, I’m one-hundred percent convinced that…
Your Master Key to Endless Exposure and “Go-To” Expert Status Really Is In the Platform
This isn’t theory—it’s based on real-world evidence, from my own experience and from that of successful and well-respected colleagues.
And what we’ve discovered, time and time again, is that once you start building your platform and gain some momentum, it simply keeps going.
What’s more, every single aspect of your platform feeds into the other. In other words…
…when you have a platform,
every effort you make
is exponentially
multiplied.
For example, let’s say you want to start building your platform by getting quoted in the media.
You find a local media outlet—a newspaper, television show, or radio program. Since they’re local, they want to find good content from local experts (that’s you). After you get quoted, you write “As seen in…” on your website.
Instantly, you’ve built more credibility. (And don’t be surprised if you attract some new clients for getting quoted in the press and mentioning it on your website.)
Your new clients know other new clients. One happens to know someone who books speaking gigs. Before you know it, you find yourself speaking in front of groups. Maybe it starts small. But as you keep at it, and get more and more media mentions, which bring in new clients, which open new opportunities…
You see, it doesn’t matter which one you start with. If you dislike public speaking, fine: write articles or start a blog (I’ll show you how to do that too). If you hate writing, hire a ghostwriter.
Are you starting to see how the possibilities are endless? And how you don’t need to know how to “do it all” to get started?
In fact, what you’ll learn in Platform-Building Secrets Revealed is that I encourage you to customize your platform to your own lifestyle and personality.
That’s because platforms offer you the ultimate flexibility. Indeed, when you have a platform, you:
Get a book deal and earn great passive income with your advance and royalties (this doesn’t have to be a distant fantasy—I did it and I’ll share exactly how)
Get instant credibility and expert status (you’ll be surprised by how much less time it actually takes than you might expect)
Attract clients to you (because everyone wants to work with the recognized authority)
Receive invitations to speak at important live events and tele-seminars (you’ll see how people start contacting you, rather than the other way around)
Sell more books and products (people buy from those they trust)
Bring traffic to your website and get daily inquiries (no, you don’t need to be a major celebrity or website to attract the right traffic)
Build your mailing list and a loyal following (I’ll show you email marketing strategies that make this a cinch)
Turn around the prospecting cycle—instead of going after new clients, prospects continuously come to you (it’s what we all want—and I’ll show you how to get there)
Create a strong, memorable brand for yourself and your business (branding is not just for Fortune 500 companies—it’s important, and I’ll show you why…and how to create one that people love)
Reach a broader audience of hundreds, thousands, even millions (that’s not to good to be true; I’ve seen it time and time again...)
And most important, share the message that you are meant to share (I can’t underestimate the importance of this: what if you could create a thriving career out of sharing what you’re most passionate about?)
Okay. If you’ve read this far, then you’ve likely realized that platform-building is the most powerful way for authors and aspiring experts to establish themselves.
But at this point, you might be wondering, “But can I build a successful platform?”
Who Can Succeed with a Platform?
Luckily, you don’t need to have dozens of books and articles, waiting lists of clients, or tons or awards and honors to get widespread exposure and expert-status.
But you do need a few things—what I call Platform-Building Criteria. Here they are:
Criteria #1: Be a credible source of information in your field.
I’ve already mentioned this point, but it bears repeating. You really do have to be a credible and trustworthy source of information in your field. That’s the foundation of everything.
Criteria #2: Be committed to getting your message out there.
Next, while I told you that the process is relatively easy once you know what to do, I’m not a proponent of the get-rich-quick types of schemes. I certainly don’t want this to sound like one.
Platform-building is a marathon. It’s not a sprint. But the great thing is, once you get the ball in motion, it becomes self-perpetuating. And that leads to:
Criteria #3: Be driven by your passion and desire to share your message.
And finally, I believe that those who are successful with platform are those who have a message that they know can help people. They have a burning desire to share their message with as many people as possible. They’re not just in it to become an expert for the sake of becoming an expert—they actually want to make a difference in the world.
Do you meet these three criteria? If so, and
You don’t yet have the platform you need to get your book published and market and sell your book,
here is the
comprehensive resource to help you.
You already have a great platform including speaking engagements, media coverage, and internet publicity, and are
ready to find a literary agent, learn how to write a book proposal and get your book published, keep reading.
